Week 9 Update

In week 9, we saw multiple intriguing matches across the league such as the Game of the Week between Team Hunt420 and Njigbas With Attitude. These two teams never got it going as they put up some of their lowest point totals of the season. The two highest scoring teams in the league put on a boring display which would have resulted in a loss if they played anybody else. Someone had to win this game and it would be Njigbas With Attitude that came out victorious. A last minute pregame swap for NWA proved to be the difference maker as Diontae Johnson scored 22.0 points, making him the highest scorer in the matchup between the two teams. With that win, NWA extends their streak to 6 games, longest streak in this league’s short history. NWA’s slow and quiet ascension to the top has caught the attention of the league and now every team has NWA in their crosshairs to break the streak.
The next team up to snap the win streak will be SkeeeYee!, the same team that gave NWA their first loss of the year. The league will standby to see if history repeats itself. As for Team Hunt420, in the words of Ye, “It was all good just a week ago.” This team is now staring at 5-4 and on a 2 game losing streak. Things may get worse for the fringe top 3 team due to the bye week. Hopefully the manager of Team Hunt420 can piece together a winning team or the rest of the pack will pass them up. The team leading the pack, SkeeeYee!, is patiently waiting like 50 Cent on track 3 of Get Rich or Die Tryin', to step in to the top 3. After the beat down they dished out in Week 9, it’s fair to say that they’re poised to be next up. They put up the highest point total of the week against the contending Team Bigblack74. They head in to Week 10 as the heavy favorite against the streaky Njigbas With Attitude. After receiving their second straight loss, Team Bigblack74 have been pushed out of a playoff spot. They have the opportunity to turn it around and get back in to the playoff picture in Week 10 when they face the last place Northpark Sixes. In other news, a monumental trade took place hours before the Sunday games. Justin Jefferson was traded away for Garrett Wilson and Zay Flowers.
If Justin Jefferson returns from IR and assumes his pre-injury form, SkeeeYee! becomes an even greater formidable opponent.
The newly named The Brixton Ballers is hopeful that the players they received can perform above expectations, making the trade worthwhile. Even though, The Brixton Bombers bolstered the depth of their roster, at this point in time, SkeeeYee! won this trade. During the pregame presser, The Brixton Bombers' owner had this to say in regards to the surprising shake up, “Team is under new management. Had to fire the coach and come up with a new name. Since the old one was racist and we traded our star player. The Brixton Ballers are ready for a second half of the season run. We win these next two games we’re in first place.” The sudden change and explanation feels like a deflection from the continuous blunders the owner has displayed through out the year. They’re hopeful they can move forward from the rookie mistakes, but performances like Week 9 will hold this team back from excelling. The Brixton Ballers suffered another crushing defeat from a bottom dwelling team, Team RomeIAI. The final score of the bout was 131.36-102.28. Team RomeIAI escaped their losing ways and moves to 3-6 of the year. It appears that after his Week 9 performance, Dak Prescott may have earned the trust of his critical manager, but it only takes 1 interception to fall out of his good graces. The manager is not overly optimistic about his starting Quarterback, but he will roll the dice once again and start him in a favorable Week 10 matchup. Speaking of bottom dwelling teams, Northpark Sixes lost another game as they settle in as the worst team in the league. The manager joked at the end of their embarrassing defeat against I Want You Davant Me that they were “Bout ready to auction off my team.”
Let’s hope that this was just left as a joke and not a potential reality which would damage the integrity of the league and the manager’s legacy. Northpark Sixes manager was not thrilled with the play of his starting Quarterback and even went as far to call him “Another bummin Rivers.” One team that was pleased with his performance was I Want You Davant Me as they celebrated their fourth win of the year. They continue to hang around the pack and will have another chance to return to .500 when they play Team ColeWorldNoRelation, who trounced the previous number one ranked team. If I Want You Davant Me can string together some wins, they could earn themselves a bid in to the play in game or even better. Lastly, Team Sanders32, the top team in the league, fell to Team ColeWorldNoRelation 116.22-155.08. The solid performances from their core group was not enough to hold off the barrage of points from Team ColeWorldNoRelation. Team Sanders32 may look to making some moves to increase the depth of their roster. If not, they may continue to slide. Team ColeWorldNoRelation can’t relate as they notched their second win in a row. From the middle of the ocean, the manager is maintaining the focus within his team. Currently, Team ColeWorldNoRelation sits at the cusp of a playoff spot by coming in to the week as the sixth ranked team. They have a tall hill to climb due to bye week plague and lack of depth. They are projected to take a step back in Week 10 if no moves are made. Playoffs are right around the corner and it remains a tight race between 3 and 8. Everyone, mathematically, has a shot to ascend or remain in a playoff spot. This is the biggest week for the bottom tiered teams and teams fighting to stay alive. Good luck everyone and make smart decisions.
